The city of Brive

has the distinguished honor of hosting the 16th edition of the World University Golf Championships, from June 23rd to June 26th, 2016.

It is with great pleasure and pride that I extend a warm welcome to all the participants, coming from every corner of the world for the occasion.

The city of Brive has been highly committed to developing its golf course, the Golf de Planchetorte, and now has real tools for both the economic and touristic promotion of its territory.

Nestled in lush greenery, and crossed by a small stream, the Planchetorte golf course offers a perfect setting for its public and is valued for the high level of technical skills that it requires.

The quality of the site as well as the developments recently carried out are widely recognized today, as the Golf de Planchetorte has been chosen to host the French National University Championships in 2015, and the World University Championships this year.

For four days, Brive will thus welcome the world’s elite of university golf. 130 golfers, men and women, representing some 20 delegations, will be competing for four World University champion’s titles (women, men, both individually and on a team basis).

Thanks to all our supporting partners, public and private, and to both professionals and volunteers invested in the project for their dedication to and involvement in this major sporting event.

I wish you all a pleasant stay in Brive and an excellent competition!

Frédéric Soulier

Mayor of Brive
